Mark may not speak but he communicates well through his gestures, pointing, & squealing. Lately he will make these faces and will want you to copy them. There are two actually, a cheesy grin and a scared looking face. He will out of the blue start to make them to you and we just copy along and he switches back and forth between the two just laughing! He is quite the jokester, the mute jokester!

Mark is very into looking at books, any kind of books. When we go to church, he insists on holding the Hymn book the entire time! He loves to flip through pages and I think to him it is more of a thrill than looking at the pictures. Though he will look at the pictures too! I captured him on the table looking at our manual for Sunday school on the teachings of President George Albert Smith. He was looking at this book for at least 10 min.

Marble Train

When Thomas was little, a fun toy that provided hours of play was a wooden marble train. Much to my surprise a few weeks ago I found one at a thrift store and bought it! Yes I did. So I brought it home all excited, and we didn't have any marbles! So Sammy, Mark and I went on a hunt to find some marbles which you would think are carried at most stores. No, they aren't. We finally found some at a hobby shop. So brought them home and this particular train instead of corners for the marbles to travel around, there are holes drilled for the marbles to drop through, and these marbles were too big!Gosh darn it all! So, the other day we were in a specialty toy store and lo and behold they had not only marbles but Pee Wee Marbles which are mini marbles. So we brought them home and the kids have been in marble train heaven! The cool thing about this one too is it has chimes at the end so it plays a little scale when they finish their ride! Green Lighting really likes the sound of the chimes and chirps like crazy when the kids are playing it!

Lots has been going on. Highlights are Joe and Sam have been playing basketball. Thomas moved into a new office, and the weather has gotten chilly.

Bird's the word

Joe has been wanting a bird for the past 3 months. I don't know what started it, but he was determined to get one. Everyday when he would come home from school he would ask me what chores he could do to earn money. We looked up everything online to see how much everything would cost; cage, food, etc. We determined he needed to earn $40. So bit by bit he worked and saved and finally had enough money. We had to check with our property manager to see if it was OK since we are in a rental. Joe said a prayer that the owners of the house would OK the bird. The next day I got a call from the manager saying it was OK with the owners if we got a bird. When I picked Joe up from school the first thing he asked was, "Did the owners say it was OK?!" I said yes and he was so overjoyed!!! The first thing he said after was, "I'm going to give a prayer of thanks." And he did. I watched him in the back of the van bow his head and fold his arms and thank his Heavenly Father for blessing him with a bird. So that day we brought Green Lightning home, and he/she fits right in with the family. The kids love to hold her/him on their finger and he/she trots around on the floor, and just does an occasional spring time whistle. I was afraid we would be hearing squawking all the time, but that has not been the case. We have also been walking around singing, "Bird, bird bird, bird's the word. . ."

Finished Pumpkins

Thought I should post the carved results. By the way, pumpkin carving is no joke, it's TOUGH STUFF! Mine was a CTR shield (cause I'm so good) and Thomas carved Spider Man for Sammy. I didn't get a picture of Joe's because his candle had blown out, and the fourth little one you can see next to Spider Man, it was a leaf I made with a cookie cutter and the pumpkin split!!

Pumpkin Patch

I know these are all out of order, but our internet has been down for a few days, so I am catching up with all the fun and excitement that has been going on here!! The rule for the pumpkin patch was you had to be able to carry your own pumpkin since I went alone with the kids. Well, at this paticular pumpkin patch, ($6.50 to take hay ride down to patch, go in hay maze, and pet some animals, 23 cents a pound per pumpkin= came out to $40.00, $8.50 for Joe and Sam to ride the rollarcoaster, I think we are going to the grocery store next year!) had ginormous pumpkins!! Joe ended up picking out a green one and when we got it all the way back to the hayride, he found another one he liked better so we ended up getting four pumpkins. Needless to say the kids had fun and we had fun carving them on Halloween eve, that's all that matters right?!

Finally Halloween

Our Halloween was a lot of fun this year! We celebrated with a trunk or treat at the church and then went trick or treating throughout the neighborhood on Halloween. Thomas was the Tooth Fairy, I was Nanny McPhee, Joe was a cowboy, Sam was Scooby Doo, and Mark was a sweet little lion! We took our friend Xavier to the trunk or treat, it was loads of fun!!!

Boyz in the mud

All three of the Bagley boys have this inate desire to be in the mud. When we moved into our house, there was a plot of dirt which to me looks like a future garden, to my boys it has been Saturday and sometimes weekday entertainment. . .for hours!! No joke! They build castles and find worms and make tunnels for the worms. My kids usually aren't sit down and play with toys and use their imagination kids. But when it comes to mud, the possibilites are endless!!! Thomas and I have decided when we do get our "settle down house" if the yard isn't already done, we are just going to leave it as one big yard of mud and dirt, every little boys DREAM!

Othello Fair

This year for my birthday we went to the annual Othello fair. We have so much fun every year. The kids love to pet the animals, eat the fair food, and ride the rides. We let them each choose three rides because they were $3.50 a ticket!! Joe and Sam chose Posidans bubbles which are big beach balls floating on water, the kids actually go inside and run around in them like a hampster in it's wheel. Sammy chose to also go through the haunted house and the ferris wheel both with his mama, so proud, sniff. . . Joe went on this spinning umbrella thing TWICE IN ROW! (with his uncle Garrett and Thomas) That kid has a stomach of steel. Thomas got off and was woosy for the rest of the evening. We had so much fun with Aunt Renee and Uncle Garrett, Mark was loving cuddling with his uncle "Carrot". We look forward to going again next year!

Mustang Round-up

At Joe's new school, they have a carnival every fall to help raise money for the school. It was a lot of fun!! All the games were outdoors, indoors they had hot dog dinner, cotton candy, sno cones, & popcorn. You would buy a punch pass for 5 dollars with 20 punches. The meal was 3 punches and each game was one punch. They had bouncy houses outside also which are the favorites. My boys were just as excited to get dressed up. Mark has found a new love: the trampoline He gets sooo excited and loves to jump on his own. Although he has yet to talk, he will sign "please" "thank you" and "more". When he is done with his drink he will go put it in the sink. He loves to clean up his toys too! Have to take advantage while they are young!

Sammy's first day of Preschool

Sammy started school, three days a week with Mrs. "B". He LOVES it. He is up out of his seatbelt and ready to go as I pull up to her house. For the first few days when we would ask what he learned he would report, "Well Weston was hitting kids again." But now apparently Weston is nice to everyone. He is in class with his good friend/cousin Asa. Joe the other day was complaining how he hated school and Sammy chimed in, "Well I LOVE preschool!"

First day of School

Joe's first day of second grade was Tuesday. He started at his third school here in the Tri-Cities. He is such a brave boy and could care less that he knows no one, has only been in the building once, has never played on the playground, ate in the cafeteria, etc. He never gets nervous about change, which I do and have since I was a little girl. It was his idea to take a photo of him walking to and from the house. Maybe it will be out tradition. I haven't been too good with taking first day pictures. I took one for his preschool, for kindergarten it was him running onto the bus, and for first grade I forgot my camera at the school but I remember him lining up with his class with a big grin on his face while most of the other kids were crying and wanting their moms who were also trying to hold back the tears. I am always so excited to get the kids in school, it's always a joyous day for me. Because I know I will have them home all the following summer. . .

Well the summer has come to an end and we had so much fun and were busy. I tried to post a few times but I must have had too many pictures or something, blogger is not too user friendly in my opinion. Anyway I will try posting our last big bang of the summer which was a trip to Silverwood with our good friends, the Moons. We enjoyed also this summer: a trip to Utah, camping a few times, gardening, swimming LOTS, and oh yes moving!!! Here are some pics from Silverwood. Both Joe and Sam rode the big rollercoasters for the first time, even though Sam is only 3 he is the size of a 5 year old and barely made the height mark. He rode with Thomas and was terrified the whole time, but at the end with a smile on his face would agree excitedly to go on another one! Joe went down effortlessly and also went down the 3 major steep water slides at the Boulder Beach. We enjoyed a fun magic show, and had fun walking around the park, enjoying the flowers, and the perfect amount of crowd to not bother anyone. We hope to go again next year!

Summertime is. . .

So far we have had a fun filled summer with a trip to Utah, visit from Grandparents & Aunt Lala, LOTS of fireworks, camping, swimming, making ice cream, growing vegi's, watching Thomas do his first triathalon, and now. . . we just found out we get to move! Joe turned 7 this past weekend!! We had a slumber party and celebrated with 10 Mario's!! We played games, had a pinata of course, and yes you guessed it, played Mario on the Wii! We did survive the slumber part, the boys did amazingly well. Joe got to share his party with his friend Josh who shares a birthday with Joe but is one year older. His awesome mama and I planned a totally rockin time and could not have survived if it weren't for her mother and sisters helping us out. We have mostly boys on our street. A lot of them mosey on over to my house, which is fine with me. It seems growing up our house was always the neighborhood gathering spot, and in highschool my house was one of the "party" houses on the weekends. But the other day, there were ZOMBIE WARS going on at my house. For about two hours there were gunshots and forts being built and teams defending one another. It was pretty intense. . . but there were thankfully no casualties! (Joe was the weapon builder)

Joe has been doing wrestling, he LOVES it. Most other sports we have signed him up for he will enjoy in the beginning and then starts to dread it and before I know it I have payed the fee and now I am dragging him out the door each time. With wrestling he is so excited each practice, (which is three nights a week!) Today is his first tournament. He and Thomas rose up at 5:30 am to go, and Thomas said he jumped right out of bed. I don't know if it's because he is doing it with his cousins, but I'm proud of him none the less.

Last week he also said he wanted a suit for church, so I took him to a little Mexican tienda which sells dresses for quincineras and such. They had tuxes for boys and suits also. Joe really wanted the tux for the bow tie, but I told him people at church would be wondering where he was going. Finally I convinced him to get the suit and I must say, he's going to have the women chasing him around! I love my guapo wrestler

Every year I make photo valentines for the grandparents of the kids. I was goofing off and was holding Mark and decided to take a picture of us. After I took the photo I looked at it and he was TOTALLY cheesing it up! I couldn't believe he could comprehend the idea to smile when this strange silver box is being pointed at you. So I took another, and another and he still was just smiling his cute chubby cherub smile!! Love that boy! Sammy joined in too!

I thought I was done for, as in the blogging department. I thought our password had been changed because we had some issues with our hotmail account and had to change that. But lo and behold I don't know what I did, well I do but I am able to still use the old password and enter in blog entries. And my has a lot changed since last time! Here is a quick update and then heretofore afterward I will try to post often and not too much!

Thomas: is doing well with his work, got tempted a while ago and started looking at other clinics, but is staying right where he is at for awhile. This spring though we do want to start looking at areas where we would settle. He does want to stay in public health though for at least another 3 years. . . we will be debt free by then! Incredible, I know! He has recently taken some great strides to lose some poundage. . .more on that later.

Katie: Well me, myself, and I. I am so fortunate to be at home with the kids and try my best to do good motherly things like have after school snacks, and play games, and build forts and watch movies with the kids. I still feel like I am trying to figure things out, but I take one day at a time. I love being able to be there for them when they need me. I have developed a recent hobby of knitting which I stumbled upon because of my friend Vanina. She is making hats for newborn babies in Argentina, she taught me how to make one on a loom and I was hooked-litterally! I have made 15 more hats since then and I love to do it! I feel so crafty yet I don't have to put too much thinking into it. I am also so excited to be in the chorus of the production "Savior of the World" put on by my stake which is part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have not done a musical since high school and am so excited for it!!

Joe- is six and is losing all of his teeth! He is getting the reading thing down, and loves to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid with me(I look forward to it too!) He just finished basketball, and is looking forward to trying wrestling. He loves playing with baby Mark and is so good with him. He is very into musical instruments, building forts, crafting with mom, cooking, bike riding and trike (a three wheel scooter) riding. He takes very good care of our foster dog Hershe and will take her for walks around the block. He is liking 1st grade and feels independent eating school lunch and walking to and from school (well when it's not too cold) with friends. He still is not ashamed to give me a good muscle hug.

Sam- just turned 3 and thinks he is 25. He has been quite aggressive towards any type of opposing authority and will lash out at any kid or adult who disagrees with him or tells him no. He has been my dare devil, garbage word user, has a hard time staying in bed little sweetie. He can frustrate me so fast and then say "I'm sorry mom" and give me a hug so quickly it all melts away. I think he is ahead of his time and I just haven't seen the fruits of his seeds of determination sprout yet. He is very into, well TV and is always wanting to watch something. He is also at that age though, where he will love a good time of cleaning the bathrooms and playing garbage man and helping empty the trash with mom!! (gotta milk it while I can!) His language and speech is so well, he speaks as well as a 5 year old and sometimes I have to remind myself he is barely 3. But he loves his brothers especially the oldest and copies all he does. He is usually the third wheel to Joe and his friend Skyler across the street.

Mark- is my little piece of heaven. He is so good and smiley all the time. He will just sit in his highchair and wait for me to finish what I am doing even if he has no toys or food. I will usually be with one of the other boys or doing something in the kitchen and I look over and remember he is there and waiting for me. He loves to eat, just started crawling and clapping around his 9 month mark. He will be 10 months the end of this month I can't believe it! He is still nursing, where I was done with the other two by this point. But he will just sit in my lap quietly if I am in church or a meeting. He is very content just being held.

Well there is the update, I hope to keep you posted (all 7 of you) and sorry for the long break, but I think I am back!

Photo Guilt

I have had photo guilt recently, meaning feeling like I am not taking as many photos as I should, I have photos ready to be mailed to grandparents I haven't sent, I have home movies I need to transfer to DVD, I don't know how to. You see I am very technically disabled, I just don't understand the stuff. I am lucky I am able to make a somewhat decent blog post. As I type this I struggle because half of my keys on my keyboard are gone, thanks to an unnamed 2 year old. This past week we went to sign in to our hotmail and for some reason it is not accepting our password, so we have lost all our addresses and I feel like I have lost touch with everyone. So to help relieve some of the guilt, I post some recent photos of our cute baby Mark. He is 2 months old now and weighs 14.4 lbs, and is 23 inches. He is just starting to smile and coo. He LOVES to be held and is only happy when I put him down if it is in his swing. So I end up doing a lot around the house with him in the Bjorn. He is such a sweet baby, we all love him so much!

Carolina Trip

Well we made it, we survived our much anticipated trip out to North Carolina, Myrtle Beach, and Danville, VA. The kids were great during all the plane rides and time in the car. We stopped off first in Danville to visit Nanny and Papa. We played hard with cousins and friends who have changed so much since we saw them all a year ago. Mark was passed around by all and was in 7th heaven because he loves being held. Then we were off to Myrtle Beach for the North Carolina Dental Conference. I loved being at the beach. We were fortunate and had a beach front hotel room so I could go out anytime on the patio and read or nurse Mark and be able to look out over the waves and breathe in the lovely ocean air! I even got to go to Ripley's Believe it or Not Haunted House with my 9 year old niece! She was very brave, I got a little spooked. We went shopping afterwards to buy souvenirs for all the kids. We rode go-karts in Raleigh and ate quite a few times at Chick-fil A since we don't have one here. Also couldn't forget Goodberry's frozen custard. We loved our trip, it couldn't have gone any smoother. Enjoy the pics!

Baby Mark

We are loving our time with baby Mark! He is a very calm, good baby. I love to look at him and admire his heavenly glow. I feel so blessed to be able to have children, I take for granted all that I have been given. We had nanny Jo and Papa Bebe come stay and they were a HUGE help! I love families!

Mark Thomas Bagley arrived safe and sound and rather quickly the 31 of March at 3:36 am weighing in at 8 lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long. He is a very sweet baby and is adjusting well to life on earth. He is our first baby to wear newborn size diapers!

Mission Accomplished

Katie Munk and I were assigned to serve together in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. We had many a good time, met many people who I know we all knew before we came to this life. We worked hard, walked a lot, baptized, shared, read scriptures, jogged the streets of Penuelas in the wee hours of the morning, explored caves, ate good food, and just had a blast serving our Heavenly Father and his children.

9 years later, two marriages, and five and a half kids later we were reunited and got to spend some good times in Spokane, Washington. We chatted, got a taste of Spokane from Dick's burgers, saw the big wagon slide, and laughed as our kids wrestled and played. It was a great time and it was as if we had never been apart!

Temporary Tenant

We have been given the opportunity to have a temporary tenant live at our house. We aren't sure exactly how long, but she has been a joy nonetheless. She is soft, shiny, a chocolate brown color and loves to follow me around. The kids love to throw toys at her and she will bring them right back. She has her own bed downstairs, and uses the bathroom outside, thank heavens refuses to go inside the house. She is 8 years old and her name is Hershe. She has been a joy in our house and the kids, especially Joe has arisen many a early morning to come play with her. We don't know how long she will be here, her real owner found when he moved here he wasn't allowed to have her in his rental property. But it's giving us a glimpse of what it is like to have a dog and the responsibilities that come with it. So far, easy cheesy!

The Hot MC and the Red Whale

Last weekend Thomas's clinic had a formal dance and dinner, it was so much fun! Thomas with his bubbly personality was asked to be the MC, he did a rendition of "Pants on the ground" from American Idol. He was great, and got to wear a sexy tux. I on the other hand, with a bulging belly now got wear a pretty but complicated dress which was a rich red. I felt very pretty in it and wore my diamond dangly earrings from my senior prom and a red diamond necklace which I've had since I was 5 from a costume jewelry store. I looked at pictures afterward and realized what a whale of girl I am! But I don't mind, at least I have an excuse and it's temporary. We danced, ate dinner, learned how to salsa, I got to meet many of his co-workers and we were pooped by 10:30. It was a blast to be out and about with my honey, a night on the town.

Joe's first tooth loss

Joe FINALLY lost a tooth. He has been begging dad to pull one out for about a year now. One was loose, (I think a couple more might be) and it was extracted!! Oddly enough Joe insisted on keeping it to show his teacher and all his friends, instead of getting money from the TOOTH FAIRY! (Something I have been looking forward to doing!) Joe told me he wants to keep all his teeth and give them to the tooth fairy all at once, to receive a bigger cash reward in the end. For some reason we were talking about it in the car, and an instant childhood memory popped into my head and I had to explain to him what my mom always told me, which is that the tooth fairy needs your teeth to put in new born babies mouths so they can grow teeth! This didn't work either. Long story short, tooth is now lost, we think in the couch somewhere.

Christmas

We had a great Christmas, surrounded by family visiting from afar. Santa came, we know because he ate the cookies and left a train table! We played the Wii till the wee hours of the morning, I tried the Wii Fit and learned I am 60 years of age according to my weight and height and balance abilities. I guess being pregnant doesn't help. It sure makes a great excuse to eat those extra Christmas goodies though! We are grateful for our Savior and for His example He has set for us to serve others. His humble birth reminds me of the simple things in life which are what are most valuable, not things but spending time with family, before they grow up. We hope everyone had an enjoyable and memorable Christmas and best of luck for 2010!

I feel like I have maybe reached adulthood and can contribute to society. We moved into our first house Oct 24 and cannot believe what a luxury it is! To have space is amazing! To have a yard is awesome, a garage- out of this world! I have subscribed to the newspaper even! We are still unpacking bits and pieces and want to upgrade to a bigger bed, so. . .

Thomas built the boys a bunk bed Halloween day, they are excited. The bunk beds will have our old queen mattress on bottom and Joe's X-long twin on top. So come on over whenever you want and stay at the Bagley house! We are so BLESSED!

Here we are on Halloween. Thomas is in the middle, he's lost a bit of weight. Joe was Optimus Prime and Sam was a spider with purple hair. I was a bat woman, I think. Since we had moved in just the weekend before we weren't able to carry out our planned X-men costumes. There is always next year! We went trick-or-treating 3 times: the mall, our ward's trunk-or-treat, and then Joe and I went around the block afterwards. Needless to say, I was just as ambitious as Joe to get to every house and get us some CANDY!

Today for the Primary program which is a program put on annually by the children of the church, stood up proudly to the microphone and by memory said his line he had been memorizing for the past month, " The family is retained of God and is recentral to His plan."

The real line was "The family is ordained of God and is central to His plan." We were so proud of our boy!

Sam on the other hand can only sit 45 minutes tops in Sacrament meeting, even shorter if he has managed to pick out the M&M's and cashews from his trail mix sooner. He stood on Thomas's lap and waved to his brother, he was so proud!

Later I took him out in the hall, and he took off running. He ran into one Primary room door where another Primary sharing time was being held, ran right through the kids and across the front all the way to the other side of the room and out the other door. I could only stand in the hall and laugh at all the kids suddenly seeing this little blond haired boy shooting across the front of their sharing time. I'm sure they mistook his brilliant blond head and big smiling face to that of a mini-angel flying through their Sharing time! Nothing like a typical adventure in church.

So this past week has been the hardest I have ever had in motherhood. I think because it is the last week before Joe finally starts school, he has been driving me CRAZY!!! Has not been listening, disrespectful, hitting his baby brother, the list goes on. I think boredom has a lot to do with it, also still being in transition in between moves (we are still in an apartment and not totally unpacked) that has caused his reaction to life right now. Monday as I was cooking dinner the boys were playing in their room. I heard things being dumped out, I shouted back to see if all was OK and I heard a "Fine!" So I continued to cook. The bedroom door was shut. I went to go get the kids for dinner and could not open the door. The rest is quite explanatory.

Blueberry fields forever

I recieved an email mid June talking about blueberry picking here locally. Today we decided to go. As I was driving I thought, You know blueberry picking season might be over, it is August now. As we pulled up there was no one out there, but I saw a few berries on a bush. So we got out our bowl and to humor the little ones we ran through and found little clumps here and there. It was quite fun and the day was perfect, it was overcast and a balmy 68 degrees! It was wonderful since last Saturday was a steamy 108! We ended up with about 4 cups of berries, I went into the trailer to pay and the people looked at me like I was sometype of airhead mom (which I am) and said picking season ended last week. I offered to pay and they GAVE me the berries. So if you ever want to score some free berries, wait till picking season is over, humor the kids with the 10 berries left on the vine, and score! I came home and made blueberry sauce and we had waffles for lunch with blueberry sauce! A dream come true!

So when we moved in, Sammy learned a few days later(after setting the crib up) how to climb out. Thus to prevent injury we disassembled the crib and he has slept on his mattress on the floor. This has been quite a challenge to keep him in bed. We at first would put both boys down in seperate rooms, then a few nights ago we have been putting them to bed at the same time in their room together. They usually are talking and playing, Thomas and I just let them go at it and know they will aventually fall asleep. It helps that Joe's mattress is also on the floor. (We are going to get them real beds when we move into a house)My favorite is going in to check on them before we go to bed to make sure they are OK. The positions I find them in are quite humerous, lets just say they look out for each other and love each other which I am truely grateful for!

Alright, I've made the goal to become a serious blogger. I am done with school officially, am on the road to becoming the stay at home mom I have always dreamed of.I have goals and ambitions and plan to CONQUER THE UNIVERSE!!! One day at a time. We are currently in route to Washington state, the town of Pasco to be exact to start our lives as real people contributing to society. Thomas and I have always been students in our 10 years of knowing each other. So now he is a dentist and I have my bachelors, and we can earn money now and buy a house and like I said before contribute. I have no abilities to post pictures now, but I will in the future. I just wanted to let those who check my blog every now and again know that I am now going to be a SERIOUS BLOGGER!

I have been feeling like an idiot lately. I have been making many Spanish mistakes in school, in speaking to people, I have been making English grammatical mistakes. It makes me feel like I shouldn't say anything at all, maybe I should just shut myself up and never go out. It makes me wonder why I am in school, maybe I was just meant to work in a candy factory or drive that school bus. Even today, I put the license plate tag on the wrong side of the plate on our car! I've been checking out other plates to see if anyone else has made the same mistake, nobody I've seen has yet. I hope the po-po don't pull me over. But today I got the grade for my latest critical analysis for my Spanish seminar, and I got an A!!!!! So yes folks, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow!

Alright, I am still learning this blog stuff. So this is actually the end of our tour of the lovely downtown area of Charleston. If you could rewind like 10 posts, you can see the begenning. Or move backwards whichever way you like it. This is us with the lovely Hirschi family who hosted our stay. We had a great time hanging out with them (Thomas and Dave were chums when they were small in Othello WA) We ended our tour with some hot chocolate from good ole' IHOP. We had a great time and recommend this great historic piece of our country to anyone!

When carriages would pull up to a house, the gentleman would get out and run to the other side to help his lady out and she would have this "stepping stone" to assist her in not landing flat on her face, hoops in the air and all! I just figured out text color. Speaking of color and sorry the picture is tilted but, I am not that far yet in blog postings. Most of the window shades are "black" in Charleston. What we didn't know is they are actually "Carolina Green". When the South lost the civil war, the Yankees felt sorry and gave them all their black paint to rebuild their broken homes. The Southerners did not want black all over their town so they added some green. If you look closely at the shudders they do indeed seem black but have a hint of green!

One of our favorites was the story of the pineapple. I always was to the knowledge that a pineapple meant "welcome" to which it does. But there is more to the story. When sailors would return home from overseas they would bring home a pineapple. The wife would display it in the window announcing to all that her love was home and to come over to welcome him home. BUT it also was a sign to all her gentlemen callers that her husband was home and NOT to come over! Ha!

I never took a picture of this but it was so funny, the story, I don't know why I didn't take a photo.(Sometimes I don't want to look too "touristy") But anyway there was a brick house, a yellow house, a gray house, and a pink house all lined up together identical. The story is that a man had three daughters who were so ugly they never got married and bugged him very much. So he built each one a house: gray for the brunette, yellow for the blond, and pink for the redhead. Each of the houses carries a feature which describes some of the poor girls ill-fated facial features. The brunette had bushy brows so over the windows were huge awenings. The red head had a big nose so there is a veranda in the middle of the house out front, and the blond had a mustache so there is a raught iron bar that extends over the front of the house. Now I don't know how a blond can have a mustache, and I might have mixed them up, but you get the picture. Very amusing!

So in 185? I can't remember but there was a great earthquake. And so to prevent your house from leaning from the shaking's of the quake, iron rods were installed through the walls of your house and once a year you would fasten turning rods to the " brackets" on the outside of the house and literally turn and turn so as to straiten the rods thus preventing leanage of the house. By golly it seemed to work for they are still standing! (Dave and Analee correct please if I am wrong, I have a way of mixing up facts and details!)

Here you can see how valuble the trees are. If a tree has a trunk in diameter of more than 25" there can be nothing done. I don't know how old this brick wall is, it used to be part of a horse stall and is now an open parking garage. But you can see they (the people) took painstaking time to build the wall around the tree! Amazing I say!

Livin it up in Charleston! ( A History Lesson)

We had the fortunate opportunity to visit lovely historical Charleston. We stayed at our friend's house, Dave & Analee Hirschi. They had a rich knowledge of the history downtown which is preserved to the tee. So I thought I would take all of you on a tour with us simply because I thought all the information was awesome!! I for sure would LOVE to return someday, when it is warmer and I can roam around without children. But anyway let the tour begin. Here we are at Rainbow Row, the famously pictures row of historic homes, all different colors. I couldn't help but be reminded of the same colors and colonial style of Old San Juan.

Hello fellow friends and bloggers,
Unfortunetly we have not been posting for quite awhile because we have no charger for our camera. When Thomas flew out to Washington for his interview, I kept bugging him to take the camera to take photos of some houses he was going to look at. I took the responsibility into my hands and put the camera case in his luggage. After he left, I found the camera on our bookshelf! So guess where genius left the camera case with charger inside? The glove compartment of the rental car for crying out loud!!! So that was gone, and to order a new charger is not as easy as it sounds. We have gone through 2 others which didn't work. We now have one on the way that hopefully is the "right one". Please cross your fingers for us. Sadly we have had to miss out on many a photo-taking opportunity. We went out to Missouri for Christmas to spend time with Dawn and Llorrac and cousins, no pictures. New years eve with the Arriagadas, no pictures. Sammy's birthday(I know this is wrong) no pictures, but we did video tape! And Sammy with spagetti all over himself the other night, no pictures. So I hope this trial in our lives will soon come to pass and we can enlighten you all who check every now and again with some pictures!!!
But don't forget us!!!
P.S. Thomas ended up getting the job in Washington! We move out mid-May! So something did come out of the trip!

Afterwards we left the boys with Katie and Chris and we hit Franklin Street with Baden, Robin, Coats, and Holly. We had a blast and felt like celebs. Well I added a cool picture of our fam from the beach this weekend but as you can see I can't figure out how to get a cool title to like go at the bottom of it or over it, it just runs right across Thomas's cute face! So, we take our blogs plain and simple around here, you know who's page you are looking at!
We went to Nag's Head this past Saturday and Sunday. It was so much fun!! We met up with my aunts at a beach house there. As you can see the beach was in the backyard of the house! We went and walked on the pier (or as Joe called it "the beard") we talked to fishermen, threw shells in the water, ran from the waves, and played some putt-putt. It was so nice to be together, it's been 3 weekends apart!

Well, to put it shortly, I dream of the life of a stay at home normal mom. What I mean by that is, waking up each day and sitting up in bed and thinking, "Humm, what will I do today?" or "What kinds of things could myself and the kids enjoy today?" or "What kind of food could I cook today?" or "What kind of work out can I do today?" or "Which book could I read for enjoyment purposes today?"
Instead I wake up each day to the thought of, "Is it morning already?" Then, its rush to the shower, get breakfast for kids, make lunch for self and husband, get baby bottle, get dressed, plan out which books I need for school, Oh yeah what can I throw in the crock pot for dinner? Oh I have to dress the baby, Joe have you put your shoes on? Man I need to change that laundry from last night. Get baby cereal, get shoes on, out the door!
8 hours later. . .
Come home, house is a wreak, what do you want for dinner? It's 6:30, well we can melt some cheese on a tortilla? Alright, teeth brushed pajamas on, story and scriptures, prayers, kids in bed. Oh the sink is full, there are toys and clothes all over the floor along with books and cereal. I have 5 chapters to read, an article to find, a paper to start and 2 tests to study for. But I put all that off and read everybody's blogs because that is more fun!!
Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for what I have, and I know a busy life is better than a life with nothing. I thank my lucky stars each day I have a supportive husband who helps out and keeps me uplifted with his jovialness(is that a word?),. . . his love for life! I am very fortunite to have 2 beautiful boys who love their mama and they are healthy. And last but not least of all I am thankful I am given this opportunity to earn my degree, because not many people get that chance.

I know one day I will get the sterio typical stay at home mom life where I can plan PTA activities, and ward carnivals and garden and can and do family history and make apple pie and homemade playdough and just go to the craft store just to walk around a craft store. So until then, and for now I will just consult my appt book. ( and count the days till May!)

Blogs are Blah!

Well after many eons of forgotten password, I have finally come to my senses and set a new password, my former one forgotten which is why I have not posted in FOREVER. The truth of the matter is, I have issues with Blog. It is not user friendly for those of us who are not familiar with computers, me. I LOVE to read other blogs, but alas I am also lazy to make entries on mine. I don't know how to do the cute backgrounds, I don't know how to load up cool pictures from the internet, don't even think about the videos, blah, blah, blah!
I almost came to the point of obliterating the blog in total, but then I felt guilty for taking advantage of reading others blogs and not contributing to blog society. Blogs to me are bragging pages and/or spill out my deepest thoughts and feelings on the web for all to read. I especially love the fake names people come up with for their kids, done so to ward off the odd chance some weirdo would fall upon thier blog(that of which is the same as 10 billion other blogs) and some how, track them down and murder them in the middle of the night. And yet there are photos of their kids posted right there for all to see!
If I figure how to post pictures again I will (my computer for some reason won't do it anymore). I will brag of my kids and spill out my guts on the web, I don't think many people know about my blog anyway! And that's another thing, to add friends is something I have struggled with also. And to post the cool background music, come on! Where have I been! Someday I might get this Blog culture down.

Head Saga

Well Joe's head started off with blond highlights, which made his head look like a cheetah. My sister was coloring my mother's hair, and Joe requested his hair be done up also. Since the blond didn't look too hot, my mom took the brown my sister had mixed up and painted his head all over with the brown. This just made his head look like he had rolled it around in a bunch of you know what, so we shaved it and his scalp was dyed and splotchy. So now I have a bald son who looks like he has a diseased head. He is a good sport, I'm just thankful he is not a girl and we are able to shave his head!

Here is Sammy the day after the chair fell on his head. I was moving a table in our living room and it knocked a chair over which toppled onto helpless little Sammy lying on a blanket on the floor. I only heard the chair fall, I glanced over the couch and saw Sammy's arm jolt. I hurdeled over the couch and picked him up as he started to scream, a big white egg instantly appearing on his forehead. I took a towel and drenched it in ice cold water to hold on his head. He was giggling and laughing 15 minutes later. I took him for his 4 month check up 3 days later and the docter said if a lump appears instantly that is a good sign, it means the blood is not going into the brain. And to get knocked in the head in the front is the best place because that is the hardest part of the head. I was so thankful he was OK!

Here are some photos of our past two camping trips. The first was with our friends Katie & Chris, and then we went with the Holdaways: Chris, Tiffany, Boston, Tyler, & Tess. Joe loved swimming with Kimall also in the lake. We camp in style in the 1975 Minnie Winnie (Winnebago) It is amazing it is still alive. She has been ressurected many times by Thomas's dad. But we have fun.

I am a slacker mom. I can blame the fact that I have not posted any updates on the fact I sprained my ankle three weeks ago, or for the fact that I have really gotten into Facebook, or that I am waiting to take lessons on "How to Blog really well" given by my sister in law. Anyway, I get frusterated with computers and new age technology. Thomas is almost done with his third year-(tomorrow!) Joe is now riding his bike without training wheels, and Sam got bonked in the head real well by a falling chair! (I am nominated for mother of the year.) Here are some pics, again I have not mastered how to have the right text over or under the right picture so I type it all and then include the pictures. Enjoy!

Today was a rainey on and off Saturday. We went to a far off town of Pittsboro to enjoy an icecream soda at an old fashioned fountain shop and then went off to Haw River where Joe could enjoy some time in his idea of heaven. If Joe could have his way he would live in the woods, spend his days throwing rocks in the river and living off of smores. He is a true outdoorsman.
